Minister for Health T Harish Rao today expressed happiness over Telangana "creating history" in institutional deliveries, hitting 72% in July.
Rao held a review meeting on the implementation and performance of the various health programs. Health Secretary Rizvi, CM OSD Gangadhar, TSMSIDC MD Chandrasekhar Reddy, and all District Medical Officers and Program Officers participated in the meeting.
Extending congratulations to the employees and staff of the health department on the occasion, the minister said that prior to 2014, institutional deliveries were only 30% in Telangana, and that the number had gone up to 72.8% in July.
He said that the increasing institutional deliveries indicated that the people were showing trust in the government hospitals under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
The minister said that Narayanpet district had recorded the highest number of deliveries with 86.9%, followed by Medak district with 83.5% and Jogulamba Gadwal district with 81.1%.
He said that the numbers in the Warangal, Hanmakonda, Suryapet and Nirmal districts where government hospital deliveries were low needed to be improved, and asked all the officials concerned to pay special attention to improve the institutional deliveries in their respective districts.
