Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday said that he would respect the sentiments and aspirations of people of Telangana region.
Interacting with students and weavers at Gadwal as part of Indiramma Baata in the district on second day, the Chief Minister said that the Centre would take a decision on the Telangana statehood soon. Stating that the statehood agitation has been going on since 50 years, Kiran Kumar said that he would respect the statehood demand and wish for the fulfillment of their dream.
Terming the Telangana issue as sensitive, he expressed confidence that the Centre would resolve the issue soon. He appealed to all sections of people in the region not to resort to agitations and disturb law and order till the Centre announces its decision. He also urged the people to participate in the development works.
Reiterating that the government would fully extend its support to weavers in the State, Kiran Kumar admitted that they were gripped in financial problems due to lack of support and marketing facilities. Lamenting the fact that weavers were not recieveing even the minimum wages, he appealed to the weavers to give suggestions to the government on how to overcome the crisis.
Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said that he had sought an explanation from the Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao over the inclusion of his name in the CBI charge sheet in connection with the assets case of YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said that he would take an action on the resignation of Dharmana Prasad Rao after receiving his explanation.
The Chief Minister also announced the provision of Rs. 192 crores towards setting up 64 model schools in all mandals in the district, with Rs. 3 crores allotted for each school. He also inaugurated 309 housing colonies constructed for the flood-affected families in R Garlapadu village in Itikyal mandal. He also handed over job letters to the Srisailam Reservoir Affected under GO 98, apart from sanctioning gas connections to all families. (INN)
