Road Works Given To Tainted Contractor: Jeevan Reddy
The MLA and Congress leader said development works in Telangana worth Rs 2,000 crores had been assigned to a contractor facing allegations of misappropriation.
Deputy CLP leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly T Jeevan Reddy accused the Telangana government of giving major project works to a tainted contractor.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Jeevan Reddy said that development works in north Telangana worth about Rs 2,000 crores had been assigned to a contractor who was facing allegations of misappropriation of crores of rupees in the Rajiv Rahdari project.
He said that the Bhanu Prasad Sub-Committee had been constituted to probe into the allegations. However, the state government did not release the findings of the sub-committee into the public domain.
He demanded that the state government cancel the works allotted to the tainted contractor and place the sub-committee's report before the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
He said that the irregularities were also pointed out to by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in his annual report.
Jeevan Reddy also demanded the construction of an expressway from the Rythu Bazar in Alwal to the Jubilee Bus Stand in Secunderabad.
He said that hundreds of commuters were facing difficulties in travelling on this stretch of road due to heavy traffic. (INN)
