ENC Muralidhar Rao Should Be Fired: Jeevan Reddy
The Congress MLC said that KCR as well as engineering officers of the previous BRS government should be held responsible for the failure of the Kaleswaram project.
Congress MLC Jeevan Reddy has demanded that Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) C Muralidhar Rao be removed from duties, claiming that the State government did not need him any more.
Speaking with the media at Gandhi Bhavan today, Reddy said that there was no need for the State government to depend on the retired officers in the irrigation department.
He also said that the previous chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao as well as engineering officers of the previous BRS government should be held responsible for the failure of the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
He alleged that both the BRS and the BJP were uniting to obstruct a proposed judicial inquiry into the irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project, but that stringent action would be taken against those involved in the corruption nevertheless.
"The State government prefers a judicial inquiry to a CBI inquiry, and it is planning to conduct the investigation in a transparent manner. At the same time, ENC Muralidhar Rao should be removed from duties immediately," Reddy said.
The Congress MLC alleged that corruption of more than one lakh crores had taken place in projects including Mission Kakatiya, Kaleshwaram and the Yadadri Power Plant during the previous BRS government, and that those involved in the corruption should be punished strictly.
