Telangana as a whole received 606 mm rainfall upto September 2015 against the normal rainfall of 715 mm for this period, which is a 16% deficit.
This was stated in a report on the groundwater level scenario in Telangana based on the water levels recorded from piezometers in September 2015.
The rainfall deviation in the districts during the 2015-16 water year (upto September 2015) shows that normal rainfall (plus 19% to minus 19%) was recorded in Adilabad (-18%), Karimnagar (-17%) Hyderabad (-11%), Nalgonda (-1%), Khammam (10%) and Warangal (13%). Deficit rainfall (-20% to -59%) was recorded in the Nizamabad (-45%), Medak (-36%), Rangareddy (-27%) and Mahaboobnagar (-25%) districts.
The report says that the water level fluctuations from May to September 2015 indicated a fall in the water levels in the Nizamabad, Medak, Mahaboobnagar and Nalgonda districts, and parts of the Ranga Reddy district. And they indicated a rise in the water levels in the Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam districts, and parts of the Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts.
