Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today said that the State government was fully prepared to meet the electricity demand surge anticipated during the upcoming summer.
Vikramarka held a review meeting with officials from the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) at the Secretariat to discuss the summer electricity supply action plan.
In the meeting, he reviewed data on last summer's power demand, the expected demand for the current year, and the strategies being developed to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
He said that since all the necessary resources had been provided to the officials, they needed to ensure continuous power supply throughout the summer.
The Deputy CM also instructed that all approved sub-station and infrastructure projects be completed by March 1.
Vikramarka also stressed the importance of electricity department officers at all levels conducting meetings to assess their preparedness and raising awareness among the consumers about avoiding wastage, and directed officials to introduce incentives for staff who demonstrated exemplary service.
"Everyone in the electricity department, from linemen to ministers, should work as one family. Any field-level issue should be reported immediately to a superior officer. If there is no response, it should be escalated to the next higher authority - even to me if necessary," Vikramarka told the officers.
He said that the government was ready to provide all the necessary facilities at the field level, and urged officials to request for any resources they need.
Referring to the emergency electricity services currently available in Hyderabad, Vikramarka suggested extending similar services to the rural areas.
Energy Department Principal Secretary Sundeep Kumar Sultania, Transco CMD Krishna Bhaskar, SPDCL CMD Musharaff Ali, Energy Department OSD Surender Reddy and other officials participated in the meeting.
