The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has warned the state government of "serious consequences" if it tries to foil the 3-day
rail roko agitation being organised under the aegis of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee from 9 October.
Talking to media persons on Friday, TRS leader T Harish Rao said that the government would be responsible for any eventuality if it runs trains during the strike under police security.
Responding to the
South Central Railway's decision to run trains with government-provided security, he said that the T-JAC would adopt a 6-tier formula to disrupt train services on those days.
Harish Rao called upon Telangana activists and students to participate actively in the
rail roko and make it a success. He said that the
rail roko is aimed at mounting pressure on the Centre to get a favourable decision on Telangana.
"Unlike earlier agitations, a large number of women are expected to participate in the
rail roko this time", he stated.
The TRS MLA said that bullock carts and other vehicles would be parked on railway tracks as part of the
rail roko. And if the government resorts to arrests, Telangana leaders will launch a "
Jail Bharo" agitation, he threatened. (INN)
