Minister for Finance and Health Harish Rao among others criticised the union government today for adopting double standards towards Telangana.
In the wake of the Mission Bhagiratha program winning a national award for providing safe drinking water to all rural households, Harish Rao along with Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao held a press conference today and found fault with the attitude of the union government in dealing with Telangana.
Harish Rao said that on the one hand the Centre was presenting awards appreciating Telangana's performance on various fronts at the national level, and on other it was making baseless allegations against the TRS government.
The very fact that the BJP government at the Centre was copying many schemes of the Telangana government showed that it admitted that the TRS government was doing a great job, he said, and claimed that the BJP then indulging in mudslinging against the TRS was just disgustingly cheap politicking.
He also urged the Centre to copy more schemes of Telangana, including Haritha Haram, Palle Pragathi and Pattana Pragathi, for the betterment of the entire nation.
Harish Rao also accused the union government of failing to implement the recommendations of the 15th Pay Commission, and said that it wasn't releasing adequate funds to the States.
Meanwhile, reacting to Mission Bhagiratha winning a national award for providing safe drinking water to all rural households, TRS working president and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao slammed the union government for recognising Telangana's achievement but not providing financial support for the cause.
"Thanks for the recognition but it would be befitting if the NDA Govt can honour the recommendation of NITI Ayog to grant Rs 19,000 crore to this pioneering project (sic)," he tweeted.
