The Telangana government today banned rallies and public meetings in the state to check the spread of the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus.
People have also been asked to follow the coronavirus protocols temporarily till January 2.
The government issued orders to these effects as the High Court had directed it to take measures in three days to control Omicron.
While public meetings and rallies in the state have been banned, people can still gather in lesser numbers following the coronavirus protocols given thermal screening is done.
The government also instructed the officials concerned to see that the people wore masks, sanitized their hands, avoided social gatherings and maintained physical distance.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar instructed the Collectors, SPs, CPs and other officials concerned to enforce the rules above.
