Given the rising cases of the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus, the Telangana High Court has asked the state government to take steps for curbing the spread of the virus.
It passed these orders while dealing with a Public Interest Litigation.
It also asked the state government to ban public gatherings for celebrations of festivals in the state, including the upcoming Christmas, New Year day and Sankranthi.
Responding to that when speaking to the media after launching an operation theatre and an ICU facility at Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital in Hyderabad, Health Minister T Harish Rao said that the government would honour the High Court directions.
"We are yet to receive the order copies from the court. Once we do, we will bring them to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for necessary action," he said.
