Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar today said that the State government would not introduce any new regulations for the issuance of ration cards, and that the existing guidelines would remain in effect.
Prabhakar made this announcement at the GHMC head office during a review meeting which focused on the selection of beneficiaries for the Indiramma housing scheme and the process for issuing new ration cards.
He said that the verification of ration card beneficiaries would take place at the field level from January 16 to 20, the data entry for eligible beneficiaries would commence on January 21, and the distribution of ration cards would begin on January 26.
The minister said that ration cards and Indiramma houses would be extended also to those who had relocated from other districts and were now residing in Hyderabad.
"However, those who own land in Hyderabad but do not have a house will be given first priority under the housing scheme," he said.
He also promised that the incomplete two-bedroom houses in Hyderabad district would be completed, and that discussions would be held with contractors to expedite the process. The beneficiaries for the completed houses would be selected through a lottery system, he added.
Prabhakar pledged that justice would be delivered to all underprivileged individuals irrespective of their political affiliations, and that programs would be implemented to benefit all eligible individuals.
