Free Sand For Indiramma Housing Beneficiaries

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that Indiramma Housing Scheme beneficiaries would receive sand free of cost for the construction of their homes.
Hyderabad | 11th June 2025
Telangana Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy today announced that beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme would receive sand free of cost for the construction of their homes.

He said that the responsibility for distributing free sand coupons would lie with the district Collectors.

Reddy and minister Seethakka distributed approval documents to beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme at Incherla village in Mulugu district.

Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that 3,500 houses had been sanctioned for the Mulugu constituency, along with an additional 1,500 houses under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) limits. He also announced that, in response to Seethakka's request, another 1,000 Indiramma houses were being specially sanctioned.

Reddy also said that if the beneficiaries began house construction within the next 10-15 days, funds would be released to them every Monday.

Reddy said that there were at least 60 eligible beneficiaries for Indiramma houses in every village, but for the time being only about 25 houses per village could be sanctioned. However, he promised that all eligible families would be provided houses in due course.

The minister added that forest officials would be instructed to allow residents living in makeshift homes within forest areas to construct Indiramma houses at the same locations. Based on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's directive, 10,000 houses had been sanctioned specifically for the Chenchu tribal community, he said.

Reddy then criticised the previous BRS government, which he said was in power for two terms but had sanctioned only 92,000 houses and had on top of that completed just 60,000 of them, leaving over 30,000 houses incomplete with only walls constructed. He also alleged that contractors were not paid for their work under the previous regime.

He announced that the Congress-led State government had on the contrary set a target of constructing 20 lakh houses with a budget of Rs 22,500 crore over the next four years. He urged people to take note of that and all other welfare schemes being implemented by the Congress government, and support the party in the upcoming local body elections.
