BRS In Despair Over Good Work Being Done: Deputy CM

Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said that the opposition party was panicking because the Congress' schemes were fundamentally transforming lives.
Hyderabad | 6th July 2025
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today said that the opposition BRS was anxious about its future and had reached a point of helpless despair as the State government continued to roll out numerous welfare schemes and development initiatives.

Vikramarka participated in the Indiramma housing land distribution event and later addressed a public meeting in the Madhira Assembly constituency on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the opposition parties were anxious and conspiring because the Congress' schemes were fundamentally transforming lives. "But no matter how many conspiracies they hatch, our people's government will stand tall and work tirelessly for the public," he said.

Vikramarka said that there were 1.10 crore families in Telangana, and that the Congress government was providing at least one welfare benefit to nearly 93 lakh of them.

"In just one and a half years, we have implemented some form of welfare programme for every stage of life - from birth to old age," he claimed.

Lashing out at the BRS, he said, "Those who ruled for ten years before us only looked after their own interests by converting the people's needs into votes. They did not solve the people's problems. They couldn't even clear the bills for the houses sanctioned by the Congress government before their rule. Instead, they lived in luxury, looted the State and ignored the suffering of the people."

"For the past decade, the poor were then left waiting in vain, dreaming of a home. It is only after the Congress government came to power that the people began to believe that their dreams could come true," he said.

Vikramarka claimed that once the Congress formed the government, it immediately began construction of 4.5 lakh homes in the first phase, spending Rs 5 lakh per house - totaling Rs 22,500 crore in just the first year, a level of investment unmatched by any other State.

"This is not a government only for Congress workers or leaders - it is for all the truly poor. We are building homes for everyone who needs them," he said.

"If the BRS government had built houses for the poor during its ten years in power, there would be no need today to spend thousands of crores on Indiramma housing," he added.

He also accused the BRS of plunging the State into debt by securing massive loans and burdening future generations with repayment. "Now we are forced to pay both principal and interest on their loans. The financial system was in shambles when we took over. But under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's leadership, the entire cabinet is working 18 hours a day, mobilising every rupee and spending every paisa for the poor," he said.
