Even as the Congress attempts to contain
its latest eruption of infighting, TDP's very own stormy petrel Nagam Janardhan Reddy continues to ruffle feathers in his anytime-now-erstwhile party.
He demanded today that the party should discuss the Telangana issue in the upcoming Mahanadu, and take an unambiguous stand supporting a separate Telangana.
He further demanded that the Telugu Desam Party should write a letter thereafter to P Chidambaram demanding the introduction of a bill for the formation of Telangana in the upcoming Parliament session.
Claiming that he never criticized the party leader, he asked if merely representing the deepest desire of his constituents was an anti-party move.
He added that the TDP was being seen as anti-Telangana, and that he wanted that impression corrected.
Nagam Janardhan Reddy has been in the news for a long while now both for his solo initiatives supporting the separate Telangana movement without seeking the permission, leave alone support, of his party, and for his constantly appearing irreverent of the senior leaders of the party including the party supremo Chandrababu Naidu.
He has been holding public meetings in support of Telangana without using the TDP party flag anywhere, giving the clear impression of having for all practical purposes taken off on his own.
When asked by his boss at a party meeting about not using the party flag, he apparently retorted, "Okay, from the next time I will use your flag." Naidu was set to be livid at the use of the word "your".
Most analysts believe it is only a matter of time before Nagam is out of the TDP. It remains to be seen what will emerge from that, given Devender Goud trying a similar stunt and starting his own T party only to eventually return to the TDP.
