The
raging fracas that erupted yesterday between ministers D K Aruna and Jupally Krishna Rao over the latter attempting to enter the former's turf Mahabubnagar as part of his ongoing padayatra, seems to be limping closer towards a resolution.
fullhyd.com readers are aware that in an unprecedented step yesterday, the local police had arrested (and later released) both the ministers when things had reached a flashpoint with supporters of the ministers all set to clash.
In what was clearly a case of turf war between the 2 Congress leaders, D K Aruna saw Jupally's attempt to enter Mahabubnagar as part of his padayatra, as infringing upon her territory, and tried to prevent it physically, leading to the headline-grabbing incident.
Consequently, today, the PCC appointed a 1-man committee of ex-MLA Gurunatha Rao to douse the fires and help the warring ministers find peace.
On his part, calling D K Aruna his sister, Jupally wrote a strategic public letter to D K Aruna promising not to take up his padayatra in the district for 4 days, and asking her to give him a plan in this period which will be better than his proposed padayatra in its efficacy for delivering a separate Telangana state.
He said that he would then follow her in implementing that plan.
However, if she failed, she should support his padayatra thereafter in the district, he said.
He claimed that there was no personality or ego clash, and that he was seeking no personal benefit in his initiatives as being reported - he was committed only towards the cause of a separate Telangana, he averred.
He also said that the Congress party's prestige would go up manifold if it took a pro-Telangana stance.
He said that he was keeping his resignation as minister at bay for these 4 days at the PCC's request.
