In the wake of Telangana protestors threatening to disrupt any IPL match held in Hyderabad, Congress leader Anam Vivekananda Reddy lamented the condition of arts and sports in town. He said that as far as he knew, Afghanistan was the only country where that movies and sports were banned and it was indeed sad that Hyderabad was moving towards the same situation.
He said the Telangana movement smacked of a single politician’s self-interest - and added that for sports to be played KCR’s permission is needed, for a movie to be shot his daughter’s permission is needed, for a software enterprise to be set up or a hotel to be set up the permission of one or the other of his family members is needed.
He said the current situation in the state was indeed strange, and that he didn’t know whom to blame for the IPL fiasco - whether it was the IPL organizers or the Telangana activists or the CM.
