Congress MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy, on Saturday, accused TDP and YSR Congress party leaders of inciting violence in the Seemandhra regions to defame the ruling party.
Talking to reporters, Anam said that TDP and YSRCP activists had vandalised the statues of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi in Andhra and Rayalaseema, and had shifted the blame onto Congress workers.
He alleged that the ongoing violence in the region is aimed at defaming the Congress party.
However, Anam said that the agitation in the Seemandhra region is "genuine", and said that people were voluntarily participating in peaceful protests.
In a controversial statement, he said that KCR acts on the directions of Naxalites, and added that KCR, the people of Seemandhra regions are participating in the agitation due to their love for "Telugu Talli".
He alleged that excess force is being used to control the agitation in Seemandhra region, and that innocent people are being harassed by the security forces. (INN)
