Soon after Chidambaram’s statement on holding wide-ranging consultations before the Telangana issue was resolved, KCR cried foul, saying that the Centre had once again betrayed the cause of Telangana. He said the agitation would start again, and that people would retaliate. However, he appealed to common citizens – students included - not to resort to extreme steps for the cause, and assured them that politicians would take care of it.
The Telangana region burst into flames last night. OU students went on a rampage, destroying public property. Buses were burnt in the Lalapet and Tarnaka area in the city, leaving passengers and RTC employees helpless. Warangal was tense, once again. The Telangana region saw transport facilities paralyzed and passangers stranded.
The TRS has called for a 48-hour “peaceful bandh” in Telangana, and also said that Telangana politicians across parties must now come together to form a Joint Action Committee.
