Telangana De-Fizzes Soft Drinks

The TRS has told retailers of the Telangana region to boycott Pepsi and 7-Up, endorsed by Ram Charan and Allu Arjun, respectively.
Hyderabad | 23rd December 2009
It increasingly looks like corporate giants might get dragged into the sticky Telangana debate. While there are doubts being raised about how the real estate industry and investor confidence will shape up the future of brand Hyderabad, the present is quite tense for soft drink behemoths and the Telugu film industry.

The TRS has openly instructed retailers of the Telangana region to boycott the soft drinks that Ram Charan and Allu Arjun endorse, Pepsi and 7-Up, respectively.

When Mohan Babu and Chiranjeevi made public their support for a united AP, it was Tollywood first that walked into the lion’s lair – their families’ movies were boycotted in Telangana. The affected movies were Magadheera (starring Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan), Arya 2 (starring Chiranjeevi’s nephew Allu Arjun) and Saleem (starring Mohan Babu’s son Vishnuvardhan Babu).

Yesterday, TRS supporters violently disrupted a film shooting for Mohan Babu’s home production that stars his son Manchu Manoj. Mohan Babu condemned these vitriolic acts against those in support of a united state, but that didn’t stop the TRS from spreading tentacles into the world of commerce.

oorollu.

that's the term i'd use for these people. it's pathetic to affect retailers' businesses and keep tabs on what gives them their daily bread and butter. stopping movies and soft drink sales smacks of a lot of things that are best not named here. what's the difference between the taliban and the trs? is this savagery a dramatization, or is it for real?

either ways, AP's image has been badly hit. it was the second biggest telecom market in the country, and, as far as i understand, the fastest growing in both telecom and fmcg. kcr and vested interests have brought back AP to where West Bengal and Bihar are now.
