The elections for the MLC seats of the local authorities' quota ended peacefully today, except with some altercations at some places in the state.
The elections were held for six seats in five previous (combined) districts - two seats in Karim Nagar, and one seat each in Adilabad, Khammam, Medak and Nalgonda districts. 26 candidates were in the fray, and 5,326 voters were to cast their votes, in one of 37 polling stations.
The combined Karim Nagar district saw the highest polling, with 99.69% turning out to vote. Of the 1,324 persons eligible to vote, 1,320 turned up and voted in this district, according to reports.
The Election Commission conducted the polls in a peaceful manner without any untoward incidents taking place. Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel visited a few polling stations and monitored the polling process.
The results will be announced on December 14 after the counting of the votes polled.
