Congress Initiates Selection Process For MLC Posts

The Congress has commenced the selection process for candidates to fill the upcoming Member of Legislative Council (MLC) positions under the MLA quota in Telangana.
A meeting was held today at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's residence where AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and minister Uttam Kumar Reddy participated.
The discussions focused on establishing protocols for candidate selection, aiming to streamline the process amid strong competition for the MLC roles.
Of the five available MLC seats, one is expected to be allocated to the BRS, while the remaining four are anticipated to go to the Congress.
The TPCC Core Committee has initiated the candidate selection process for these four seats, with plans for additional meetings due to the high volume of applications received. The party considers loyalty to the Congress as a key criterion for selection.

For the unversed, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that five MLC seats in Telangana will become vacant by March 29, 2025, with the election process set to begin in early March.
The official notification was issued on March 3, the nomination process will start on March 10, and the scrutiny of nominations will take place on March 11. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is March 13, polling is scheduled for March 20, and the results will be declared the same day.
