BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today exuded confidence that a BRS-led government would come to power in the Centre in the 2024 general election, and that the Dalit Bandhu benefit would be given to 25 lakh families across the country every year.
Addressing the meeting after unveiling the 125-feet statue of Dr B R Ambedkar at NTR Gardens on the occasion of the 132nd birth anniversary of Ambedkar, KCR said that the political enemies of the BRS were unable to digest its growth, but that it was a fact that his party was receiving an overwhelming response.
"I had never imagined even in my dreams that the people of Maharashtra would extend the kind of support and encouragement to the BRS that I saw. I strongly believe that the BRS will receive the same response in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and other States in the days to come," KCR said.
The CM also announced that the Telangana government would present awards in the name of Dr Ambedkar every year to those who had rendered the best services in their respective fields.
The CM said that the State government had decided to create a corpus fund of Rs 51 crore, and that the awards would be given every year with the Rs 3 crore earned as annual interest on the corpus.
KCR claimed that the State government had so far spent Rs 1.25 lakh crore for the development of the dalit community since the formation of Telangana State, and promised that the efforts would be continued in the days to come.
"The ideals of Ambedkar should not be confined to a particular place, State or country. Ambedkar was a universal person, and his ideals should be followed everywhere," the Chief Minister added.
