Telangana Junior Doctors Threaten Further Protests
1,000 junior doctors have been on strike since October 1 demanding replacement of the one-year compulsory rural stint with a voluntary system, and more.
The Telangana Junior Doctors' Association (TJUDA) has decided to intensify its stir from Friday onwards to press for its demands.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the TJUDA held in the Osmania Medical College on Thursday.
The junior doctors accused the government of intimidating them using police force.
They alleged that the police personnel had beaten the junior doctors on strike on Wednesday night, and removed their dharna camp this morning.
Nearly 1,000 junior doctors associated with the TJUDA went on strike from October 1 demanding replacement of the one-year compulsory rural stint with a voluntary system.
They are also demanding the introduction of a residential system for students and faculty members, and special protection forces inside the premises of teaching hospitals.
Following the failure of talks, the government on Wednesday issued an order prohibiting strikes and dharnas in hospital and college premises. (INN)

You can take a horse to water but cannot make it drink, why is the government insisting compulsory service? Do you think we will work forcedly? Please understand we are not slaves or bonded labourers, half of lives are lost for studying only. When there are no facilities doctors cannot work. Govt hospitals have more than enough strength it's the lack of equipment that is a problem, a single doctor in my to are setup manages more cars than many govt hospitals with man physicians why? Public should Understand, this is a political stunt to blind people about health systems inefficiency.
