The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) on Tuesday called off its proposed strike over the non-payment of stipends following an assurance from Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha.
The minister promised that along with the setting up a green channel for the payment of stipends, the State government would pay the stipends by the 15th of every month.
Narasimha held talks with representatives of the TJUDA at his chamber in the Secretariat today and promised that all their demands would be resolved soon.
Narasimha said that the facilities in the hostels would be improved and that new hostels would constructed as needed for junior doctors.
The junior doctors, who were scheduled to go on a strike from Tuesday across the State due to not receiving stipends for the last three months, expressed happiness over the minister's assurance, and decided to call off their proposed strike.
