The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee's agenda has unwittingly received a new lease of life with the recent deluge of resignations by Telangana lawmakers from across parties.
The JAC had earlier planned a series of agitations in July, with the 2-day bandh on Tueday and Wednesday being only the first in its timetable.
Rail rokos and a second Vanta Varpu program was supposed to have been launched this week, but the JAC has cancelled these events.
A meeting of the Steering Committee, attended by Telangana protagonists, decided that these scheduled events would be postponed to a later date, and that the Telangana agitation would now be taken to the streets of Delhi.
The Telangana JAC, headed by Prof. Kodandaram, is also planning to consolidate its forces. This is an idea that runs parallel to rebel (and suspended, and resigned) TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy's call for leaders across parties to unite for Telanagana.
Nagam's high-decibel Telangana offensive (that included a
fast at Indira Park, that quickly faded into media obscurity in the face of the high drama that unfolded in AP politics this week) may now have been relegated to the background with Kodandaram's new plan to bring all Telangana leaders onto one platform.
A meeting will take place on 9 or 10 July, during which the JAC will finalize its Delhi plans.
Meanwhile, Telangana NGO President Swamy Goud has said that soon a new Telangana non-cooperation movement will be launched.
