Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram, on Thursday, said that the Telugu Desam Party and the Congress ought to be held responsible for the suicides of students that were allegedly for the Telangana cause.
Flagging off a bike rally in protest against students' suicides, at Housing Board Colony at Moulali, Kodandaram criticised the leaders for making provocative and controversial statements on the Telangana issue, and "forcing students to end their lives".
He alleged that both the Congress and the TDP have been cheating the people of the region without making their stand on the statehood issue clear despite repeated appeals by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Kodandaram called upon the people of Telangana to not resort to suicides, and to fight unitedly to achieve statehood for the region.
"Don't sacrifice your precious lives for the cause of a Telangana state. Fight unitedly, without losing patience and hopes," he appealed.
The JAC will expose the stand of the TDP and that of the Congress, in the bike rallies to be launched from 10 April, he said.
The bike rallies will also create awareness among people on the importance of the formation of a Telangana state, he said.
The JAC chairman said that the 24 April deadline has been set for the Congress and the TDP to make their stand on the issue clear.
JAC Employees leader V Srinivas Goud and others were present in the bike rally.
The bike rally, that started from Moulali, passed though Kapra, A S Rao Nagar and Cherlapally. (INN)
