OUJAC Students Held For Protest

About 20 students affiliated with the OU Students' JAC were taken into custody by the city police when they staged a dharna before Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress party's state headquarters, on Thursday.

OU Students' JAC leader B Purshottam Reddy demanded that the Congress favour statehood for the Telangana region. The agitators warned of severe protests if the Congress leaders fail to get a favourable decision for Telangana.

A few students also tried to enter the premises of Gandhi Bhavan. However, they were prevented by the police, and were taken into custody.

Later, they were shifted to a nearby police station, and released later. (INN)
