Telangana Joint Action Committee leaders staged a "mouna vratham" (silent protest) against the government at Bapu Ghat on Tuesday.
The "mouna vratham" was held as a protest against the government's decision to put down the Telangana agitation, and also because 35 cases were registered against the agitators of the September 30 march.
The TJAC leaders were seen wearing white clothes and black bands around their mouths.
TJAC chairman M Kodandaram said that a political solution, and not a "police solution", should be taken on the formulation of Telangana.
"Talks on Telangana should continue in New Delhi. Lobbying and agitation should go hand-in-hand. Ultimately, a political solution, and not a police solution, will solve the Telangana issue. Telangana is inevitable," he said.
The TJAC leaders accused the government and the police for creating obstacles at every point of their march on September 30 and provoking them to take a violent route.
Kodandaram said, "Instead of adopting a democratic approach and allowing the peaceful rally, the government and the police, right from the beginning, adopted a negative attitude towards the T-activists. They wanted to crush the T-march and T-agitation."
The leaders also added that the TRS is in talks with the Centre, and that it cannot be criticized for not having an active participation in the agitation.
