Telangana Political JAC convenor M Kodandaram on Saturday called upon the people of Telangana to participate in the "Chalo Assembly" rally on June 14 in large numbers.
Talking to reporters after releasing the poster of the Chalo Assembly rally, Kodandaram said that a separate Telangana could be achieved only through unity and continuous agitation.
He said that the proposed Chalo Assembly rally would prove to be a milestone in the movement for Telangana.
Referring to the resignation of two Congress MPs - G Vivek and Manda Jagannatham - the JAC chairman said that the Congress had not reacted to the deadline set by two Dalit MPs over the Telangana issue, and that contrary to this, Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao was convinced by the PM himself when he had threatened to resign when he was denied a berth in the Union Cabinet.
He said this kind of discrimination between the Seemandhra MPs and Telangana MPs of the same party clearly shows what the Congress stands for.
Kondandaram also accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of making irresponsible statements on the Telangana issue.
He added that the culture of setting deadlines over the Telangana issue was started by the Congress itself, and that it was irresponsible on the part of the Chief Minister to condemn the Dalit MPs for doing the same thing. (INN)
