Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Sunday, offerred to quit politics if the Telangana Rashtra Samithi proves that Seemandhra has more medical seats than the Telangana region.
Challenging TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao to an open debate on the issue, Lagadapati accused him of trying to make an issue out of a non-issue.
In a letter to the TRS chief, Lagadapati said that the TRS was trying to incite regional feelings by wrongly claiming that the Seemandhra region has more medical seats compared to Telangana.
He said that, by all counts, Telangana has the maximum number of seats. He also said he would quit politics permanently if the TRS proves him wrong.
Lagadapati also accused YSR Congress Party president Jaganmohan Reddy of "acting innocent" as far as the issue of Telangana statehood is concerned. He said that Jagan was imitating the lead character (played by Kamal Hassan) of the Telugu movie Swati Muthyam, with regard to Telangana. He demanded that Jagan clarify his stand on the issue of the bifurcation of the state. (INN)
