The phone-in program organised by the Raj Bhavan today in place of the traditional New Year Open House, which was
cancelled this year due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation, proved to be hugely popular as scores of people called to greet Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on the occasion of the New Year day.
Wishes and greetings from across the state poured in for the Governor who attended to more than 60 calls during the one-hour long telephonic program that began at 10 am.
The Governor expressed her happiness at getting the chance to interact with the people of the state, including several children.
She was especially pleased however when Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy made a surprise call to convey his greetings to her.
The Governor also conveyed her good wishes to those people who did not get the chance to wish her personally due to the high number of callers.
While some callers reportedly brought up the plight of the private teachers, and contract lecturers of the engineering colleges of the state, some others spoke with the Governor about their personal grievances, and appealed to her to intervene and ameliorate their conditions.
This prompted Soundararajan to ask the callers to submit their grievances to the Raj Bhavan so that the necessary action to resolve their problems could be taken at the earliest.
