Hundreds Throng Raj Bhavan To Greet Governor

Hundreds of citizens thronged the Raj Bhavan today to greet Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on the occasion of the New Year.

People from different walks of life and from across the State came to the Raj Bhavan to offer bouquets, shawls, books, calendars and dairies to the Governor.

Braving the odds, a couple of differently-abled people too visited the Raj Bhavan and greeted the Governor on the occasion.

Some of the visitors, especially women, submitted petitions related to their grievances to the Governor.

The Governor remained standing and accepted the greetings and wishes for more than two hours at a special function held at the Darbar Hall. She then also cut a cake, and the visitors were all served sweets, snacks and tea. The Governor also distributed sweet boxes to the media personnel there.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Soundararajan said that she wished for a healthy, happy, safe and prosperous New Year for the people of Telangana.

"Thanks to the massive vaccination campaign, the year 2022 has been a safe year and millions of deaths were prevented in the country. I hope 2023 too will be an equally safe and healthy year for the people of our country and State," she said.

She then went round the handloom stalls' exhibition set up in the Darbar Hall, and took a look at the sarees and other handwoven products. She appreciated the special artistic work of the handloom weavers in coming out with designs for the G-20 summit and Azadi Ka Armit Mahotsav.

Dr Soundararajan also appreciated and asked the gathering to applaud a young graduate who was one of the beneficiaries of the laptops distributed by the Governor earlier, on his selection for a job in a prestigious corporate organization.

Earlier, the Governor visited the Bhagya Lakshmi temple at Charminar and performed a special puja. Advisors to the Governor, Secretary to the Governor K Surendra Mohan and other senior officials were present.
