Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan once again took a dig at the BRS government, this time for not extending an invitation to her for the Bonalu festival celebrations.
Dr Soundararajan offered a bonam to the goddess Nalla Pochamma located on the premises of Raj Bhavan today. Speaking on the occasion, she expressed displeasure over not receiving any invitation from the government for the festival celebrations. She said that it was however nothing new for her, and had been happening for some time.
"And it does not make a difference to me whether or not I receive an invitation from the government as the people of Telangana are my family members," she said.
Meanwhile, the Raj Bhavan celebrated the Bonalu festival on the grand scale. Dr Soundararajan, carrying the traditional bonam on her head, came in a procession joined by the Raj Bhavan pariwar members from her official residence to the temple located on the Raj Bhavan premises. She then offered the bonam to the presiding deity Nalla Pochamma, and offered prayers.
The Governor said, "I prayed to the goddess for the prosperity and development of our nation and Telangana, and the well-being of all the people."
The Raj Bhavan wore a festive look, and the Telangana Bonalu folk songs rented the air inside the sprawling complex.
Dr Soundararajan greeted all the employees and their family members on the occasion. Secretary to Governor K Surendra Mohan and other senior officials joined the Governor in the celebrations.
