The Telangna State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, today approved the creation of 31 new districts, but did not confirm the final total yet.
Speaking to the media after the Cabinet meeting, Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali, and Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy that the final notification on the total number of districts would be released in a day or two.
As of now, 31 districts including, Sircilla, Jangaon, Gadwal and Asifabad have received government approval followed by the recommendations of a high-power committee submitted by Committee Chairman K Keshav Rao and ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and G Jagadish Reddy.
The cabinet ministers also said that the cabinet decided to give a go ahead for the formation of 23 new police sub divisions, 28 new circles and 92 police stations across the newly formed districts.
They also said that the Cabinet would seek an amendment in the Telangana District Formation Act of 1974.
