Telangana Deputy CM and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari today said that the next four months were crucial for the Education department, and degree colleges should improve their performance in terms of results.
Addressing a workshop for HoDs of degree colleges at Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan held by the Telangana government, Srihari said, "Unless we achieve better results, the people will not trust our Education system," he remarked. He stated the State government was making efforts to revamp and restructure the Education department.
It is the responsibility of the HoDs to improve the quality of education in their respective colleges, Srihari said. The education minister directed officials to install bio-metric and CCTV cameras at all colleges in the State within four months besides focusing on the curriculum standards.
"The government has set a target of five years for taking the State's education department to the number one position at a national level," he said. Measures to equip the colleges with adequate staff, facilities and infrastructure were being taken, and officials had been asked to speed up the work, he said.
The government decided to set up Telangana Knowledge Skill Centers in all the colleges across the State, and efforts were being made to get NAC recognition for 33 colleges in the State besides filling vacant posts, Srihari said.
"We are going to spend RUSA funds for strengthening facilities and infrastructure in colleges," he said adding that contract lecturers would be regularized as per norms.
