BRS Working President K T Rama Rao today expressed concern that 13 lakh poor SC, ST, BC and minority students were at risk of missing out on higher education due to the "negligence" of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's government.
He also said that the Deputy CM's statement that there was not a single paisa to provide fee reimbursement dues was proof of the Congress government's incompetence.
Speaking at the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency's Vengalrao Nagar division-level booth committee meeting held at Telangana Bhavan, KTR demanded that the State government clarify where the funds were coming from for the various ongoing projects in the State.
The former minister said that during the BRS' ten-year rule the government had paid fee reimbursement bills worth Rs 20,000 crore and had also cleared the pending Rs 3,000 crore from the previous Congress government when it came to power in 2014. He criticized the current Congress government for then failing to pay the pending dues under the pretext of a lack of funds.
He also called it shameful for Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka to claim that all the money was being spent on employees' salaries and welfare schemes, and that there was not a single paisa left for the fee reimbursement scheme. He demanded that the dues be paid immediately so that the college bandh could be called off.
KTR also said that former CM K Chandrashekar Rao had continued several schemes introduced by previous Chief Ministers N T Rama Rao, Chandrababu Naidu, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and K Rosaiah, but that the Revanth Reddy government had stopped many beneficial schemes simply because of KCR's name. He also claimed that Reddy discontinued schemes including kits' distribution, Bathukamma sarees and Ramzan tohfa.
He took the opportunity to also allege that the Congress was responsible for the severe urea shortage and crisis in the State, claiming that its leaders were selling urea allocated for farmers on the black market. He expressed anger over Congress leaders "looting resources without addressing public problems", and alleged that they had failed to fulfill a single election promise of governance based on increased income without incurring debt in the 24 months since coming to power.
KTR also expressed concern that robberies and rapes were occurring in broad daylight in Hyderabad, and that the crime rate in the State had increased. He said that everyone in Telangana wanted KCR to become Chief Minister again, and called for the party's victory streak to begin with the Jubilee Hills by-election.
