Telangana Didn't Release Its Share For MMTS: Centre
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the MMTS project began with a 1:2 funding ratio, but halted as Telangana failed to release its share of 279 crore.
Bhuvanagiri Congress MP Kiran Kumar Reddy today raised concerns in Parliament about the timeline for the completion of the MMTS project between Hyderabad and Yadagirigutta.
He said that the project would create employment opportunities for residents in the Ghatkesar and Yadagirigutta regions, and urged the Union government to take action by allocating the necessary funds for its development.
"Why is this project being ignored? The Union government should provide information regarding the funding needed to complete it," he said.
In response, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the MMTS project was initiated in 2016 following agreements between the Ministry of Railways and the Telangana government with a 1:2 funding ratio, and that the Union government had allocated funds for the project that same year but the project had been stalled due to the State government's failure to release its share of Rs 279 crore.
The Congress MP then urged the Union government to bear the project's costs and expedite the completion of the MMTS project.
