The much touted smart cities list announced by the Centre on Thursday ignored Telangana State, and gave the status to two cities in Andhra Pradesh - Kakinada and Visakhapatnam.
Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced the list in New Delhi, and said that the places in the list will get funding for their development.
The announcement expectedly invited criticism from Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who slammed Telangana not being given even one smart city.
The Centre was betraying its partisan attitude through its choices, KCR charged. It was also of no use giving smart city status to six of the metro cities in the country, he opined.
