The third Telangana Formation Day was celebrated in all the districts of the state despite the heat, with the event at Parade Grounds featuring KCR standing out.
The third Telangana Formation Day was celebrated with pomp and gaiety in all the districts of the state despite the heat wave conditions.
The main official function was held at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds where Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao participated. The Chief Secretary, DGP and many other senior officials and party leaders attended the function.
Before reaching Parade Grounds, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the martyrs' memorial in Gun Park. He then reached Parade Grounds, and was received by senior officials. After hoisting the national flag, the CM, accompanied by DGP Anurag Sharma, inspected the parade comprising Special Armed Police from various districts, City Armed Reserve Police, Special Protection Force, Prohibition and Excise personnel, Home Guards, Mounted Police and so on. A special attraction in the parade was the Haryana State Pipe Band. Later the Chief Minister took the salute of the march-past.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister spoke of "the achievements of the TRS government" during the last three years and also the task before it to ensure that the benefits from the formation of the new state reached all sections of the people, especially the poor and downtrodden sections. Asserting that within three years of the formation of the new state it had achieved an economic growth of 17.82%, the Chief Minister said it would be the endeavour of his government to ensure that the economic growth would be inclusive and reach all sections of the people.
Speaking of the developmental and welfare programs being taken up, he first spoke of how his government had delivered round-the-clock power even during the summer months. The next goal was to see that even the farming sector got 24-hour power supply during the summer season, he added.
He then referred to other welfare schemes like Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, the Rs 1,000 per month financial assistance to single women, and the KCR Kit of financial assistance to the tune of Rs 12,000 to pregnant women which would commence from today.
The Chief Minister also spoke of the waiving of farm loans to the tune of Rs 17,000 crore by his government, and said that it was planning more welfare measures for the farmers like building godowns of 22.5 lakh ton capacity, creation of crop colonies, formation of farmers' societies at the mandal level and so on. All these programs are intended to ensure that the farmers got minimum support price for their produce, he explained.
Asserting that the state government was committed to completing all the irrigation projects in the state, the Chief Minister said that unfortunately some inimical forces were trying to create hurdles in this regard. Despite this, the government would ensure that all the projects were completed, and had made an annual allocation of Rs 25,000 crore for that. He also spoke of the initiatives to encourage caste-based professions.
Earlier, the Chief Minister felicitated eminent persons from various fields.
