The CPI will hold protest programs in all district headquarters of the State on May 30 against the "steep rise" in the prices of essential commodities including domestic gas, petrol and diesel.
The state secretary of the party Chada Venkat Reddy said that the prices of essential commodities had gone up in an unprecedented manner after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country. He said that the Modi government had turned the oil companies into its puppets, and that the purchasing power of the ordinary people of the country and the state had come down due to its handling of the sector. He claimed that the rise in prices would take the country backwards.
To put pressure on the union government to reduce oil prices and thereby inflation, the CPI would hold protest programs in front of all district collectorates on Tuesday, he said.
A state-level protest program would also be held on May 31, 2022, at Indira Park in the city, he added.
He called upon the party leaders and workers to take part in the protest programs in large numbers.
