CPI leaders Chada Venkat Reddy, Aziz Pasha and others today said that they would take up a week of protests, from October 12 to 18, against the three agriculture acts passed by the union government.
They accused the BJP government at the Centre of hurting the interests of the farmers through the acts.
They also said that the farmers of the two Telugu states were further being hurt by the Centre's refusal to address the water issues between the states, and slammed the Centre for the outcome of the recent Apex Council meeting on the river water disputes between the states.
The party leaders also said that the CPI would support "secular" parties against the BJP in the Dubbaka constituency by-election.
"And we will decide on the Nizamabad local bodies' MLC seat after discussing the matter with other Left parties," they added.
