Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao, on Saturday, admitted that Telangana Congress MPs have failed to mount pressure on the Congress High Command for the cause of Telangana statehood.
Talking to media persons in Delhi, Kesava Rao said that the MPs from the Telangana region lacked the commitment and the political will to achieve statehood for the region.
However, he reiterated that the MPs would rectify their mistakes and intensify the statehood agitation.
He expressed confidence that the government would make an announcement on AP's bifurcation before the Budget session of Parliament.
Kesava Rao said that the Congress would be washed out in the Telangana region if it fails to announce a "favourable" decision on the issue.
"There is no use fielding Congress candidates in the upcoming by-elections for the Telangana region," he stated.
The MPs from the region would soon convene a meeting to chalk out the future course of strategy to be adopted on the issue, he added.
Stating that the Telangana issue could be resolved through dialogue, the MP said that the Telangana leaders were ready to hold consultations with Seemandhra leaders in this regard.
Responding to a question on the issue of
P Shankar Rao being dropped from the state Cabinet, KK said that the High Command should have informed him before taking such a harsh decision. (INN)
