BRS secretary general and Rajya Sabha Member K Keshava Rao today joined the Congress.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikharjun Kharge invited Rao into the Congress by offering him the party's scarf at his (Kharge's) residence in New Delhi.
Rao joined the Congress in the presence of Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, AICC Telangana in-charge Deepa Dasmunsi, and other senior party leaders including K C Venugopal and Madhu Yashki Goud.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that he had decided to quit the BRS and to join the Congress on the request of Priyanka Gandhi.
"I will remain in the Congress till I die. The Congress is like my own home. Those who go on pilgrimages always reach home. I am also joining my home, the Congress. I worked in the Congress for 53 years, and in the BRS for only ten years," he said.
