Former Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao has been appointed as Advisor (Public Affairs) to the Telangana government, with the status of a Cabinet minister.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari issued orders to this effect today.

Rao, who defected to the Congress from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) a few days back, tendered his resignation as Rajya Sabha MP to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar on Thursday. His resignation was accepted by the Rajya Sabha Chairman.
