Finding fault with the the Hyderabad Police for allegedly filing false cases against the two sons of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson G Niranjan for allegedly abusing a law officer, former Minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy asked DGP Anurag Sharma to order an inquiry into the whole episode and take down the case, and nab the actual culprit.
Marri Shashidhar Reddy today addressed a letter to the DGP in this regard in which he stated that the two accused were innocent.
He recollected that on October 12, during a religious procession, Niranjan's elder son Raghavender got into a scuffle with a Sub Inspector, after which the younger son joined in. He claimed that the fight was started after the SI, who was initially greeted by Raghavender on the occasion, behaved rudely with him. The situation turned into an argument and later snowballed into a scuffle.
He added that both the men were highly educated and law-abiding citizens, and have been quite socially active, too.
As per reports, over 100 residents of Avanti Nagar Colony, Moti Nagar have signed a petition to the Home Minister under Sanathnagar PS limits. It was supposedly endorsed by the Home Minister and forwarded to the ACP in Balanagar, asking him to inquire into the matter. However, as per Reddy, the inquiry completely ignored the facts and came to a quick conclusion.
Shashidhar Reddy added that his Party and the people wouldn't tolerate police high-handedness or excesses, and would take the case further.
Speaking to the media, the SI however reiterated that the Congress leader's sons were creating a ruccus during the procession and were arrested after repeated warnings.
