Congress MLC M S Prabhakar on Saturday demanded the resignation of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Dr T Rajaiah for his alleged failure to stop the outbreak of swine flu.
Speaking to media persons, Prabhakar alleged that despite being a doctor himself, Dr Rajaiah had failed to take the required steps to prevent or contain the swine flu outbreak in the state, which consequently led to more than 20 deaths.
"People are dying due to or getting affected by the disease almost on a daily basis. It was all because of the inefficiency of Dr Rajaiah," he alleged.
Prabhakar demanded that Dr Rajaiah resign from his post owning moral responsibility for the swine flu deaths. Else, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should sack him from his cabinet, Prabhakar demanded.
Praising the Chief Minister for the steps that he took to prevent further damage due to swine flu, Prabhakar urged him to take the entire health department under his control and conduct review meetings daily on swine flu. (INN)
