The locals of Veldurthi mandal's Mangalaparthi village, in Medak district, today made a rather gory discovery - they found, inside an abandoned burnt car, a burnt body. Reports state that the car was likely burnt in the early hours of the day.
On finding the car on the outskirts of their village, some locals inspected the site further and discovered a charred body stuffed into the trunk of the vehicle. The body was so badly burnt that they were unable to identify it.
The locals then informed the police who reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter. Toopran DSP Kiran Kumar and CI Swamy Goud, Narsapur CI Lingeshwara Rao, Narayanapet CI Nagarjuna Goud and various other police personnel examined the spot where the car was found.
They suspect that those responsible had killed the victim and had lit the car on fire before fleeing the crime scene.
The car, which had a license plate number reading TS05EH4005, was traced to one D Srinivas Reddy, a native of Kamareddy district's Pitlam village. Officials revealed that Reddy had visited Hyderabad yesterday but that his phone had been unreachable since last night.
The police are currently making efforts to identify the body which has been sent for an autopsy.
DSP Kiran Kumar has assured the locals that the accused will be nabbed soon and a case has been registered in the matter.
