Contract Employees To Be Regularised From April

The State government has decided to regularise all the contract employees and revise the pay scale of the SERP employees from April 2023.

Presenting the annual budget in the Assembly, Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that the employees were playing a key role in the development of the State and were partners in its progress.

"Today, it is a matter of pride for the State that the highest paid government employees in the country are Telangana employees. Our employees are getting better salaries than Central government employees and the employees of other State governments. The extension of the benefit of fitment to outsourcing employees, Anganwadi teachers, Asha workers and other lower-level employees along with government employees at the same time was done for the first time in the country," the minister claimed.

Claiming that a total of 80,039 posts in different categories were being filled and that the recruitment process was actively going on, the minister said that an additional amount of Rs 1,000 crore had been proposed in the budget for the salaries of newly recruited employees.

Rao also announced that, upon the request of employees and teachers, the State government had decided to introduce a new Employees Health Scheme in the coming financial year. An Employees' Health Care Trust would be formed with representatives from the government, employees, teachers and retired employees. The modalities relating to this trust would be formulated shortly, he said.

"Though the Centre has been imposing cuts in the release of funds to the State and imposing various restrictions, and despite huge commitments to welfare and development programs, the BRS government has never compromised the interests of its employees and teachers," Rao claimed.
