Stating that frequent disruptions are jeopardizing students' academic careers, the state government on Saturday urged the various Joint Action Committees spearheading the Telangana agitation to exempt educational institutes from their 'bandh' calls.
Talking to media persons at the state Secretariat, Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasaradhi appealed to the various JACs to keep the interests of the students uppermost in their minds when giving bandh calls.
The minister said that the frequent bandh calls, among other reasons, have resulted in the syllabi of the students not being completed.
Parthasaradhi added that while steps are being taken to complete the syllabi, the JACs can help students save an academic year by not enforcing bandhs on the various colleges.
The minister added that while lecturers have agreed to respect the government's request to hold special classes in their colleges to ensure that the syllabus is completed, regular attendance will go a long way in helping the students.
