BRS working president K T Rama Rao today strongly criticized the Congress-led Telangana government for its alleged failure to implement the mid-day meal scheme properly in government schools, and accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of neglecting the students' welfare while prioritizing political expenditures.
Taking to social media platform X, KTR cited recent media reports highlighting the poor state of government schools, particularly in Nacharam in the Kodangal constituency of Vikarabad district, where students were allegedly deprived of mid-day meals due to disputes between the principal and meal workers. He claimed that unpaid bills had forced meal providers to serve poor quality food in meagre portions, compelling students to eat at home instead.
"When the children informed their parents about this, they got agitated. The DEO, who came to know about the matter, went straight to the school and conducted an inquiry. The principal became serious with the meal workers," KTR said.
He shared newspaper clippings related to the issue, and demanded immediate action from the government.
"If students are starving in the Chief Minister's own Assembly constituency, one can only imagine the plight of the children in the constituencies of other ministers. The CM is more focused on sending bundles of money to Delhi than on ensuring food for young children. Is this what they call people's rule?" KTR asked.
